Terrestial Laying

One of my female T. karellini has layed some eggs high and dry on a floating island despite there being abundant aquatic sites available. Any ideas what could have triggered this, she is the largest of the females present so I don't think she was bullied into it.

I have encountered this once, with one of my three Alpine set-ups. The suggestion came -from a wiser head than mine - it was temperature related, i.e. water uncomfortably warm for her. Don't know if that's true or total nonsense but it was in very warm weather, the tanks were moved to a cooler location and I haven't seen it since.

I've also heard of this happening for alpines- someone I know had a lot of alpine eggs laid on moss on a cork island. He just turned the cork over, so they were in the water.
