I always use these bacterial capsules when I clean the tank thoughly. They are supposed to speed up the cycling process to only a week. I am always so lazy and inpatient so I've always put the fish in straight away, not experiencing any trouble ever with NO2 and NO3, or fish dying in new tank setups.
How long should I wait with putting in my axie?
Can I "cheat" time with the bacterial capsules for axolotl cycling requirements too?

Most of those capsules are useless as they contain no live bacteria, even if they say they do. You don't NEED to cycle an axolotl tank, as long as you're religious about testing and changing the water. Get a good water quality test kit (Ammonia (NH4+, NH3), Nitrite (NO2+), and nitrate (NO3+)) and stay on top of water changes.

i agree with joan, and im sure most other people on this forum do aswell. the capsules are pretty useless unless the bacteria is actually alive, which it isnt.

i think cycling a tank is very important though, id rather wait for the tank to cycle than put the axies in and have to waste time doing water changes and testing the water for ammonia and ph and nitrite and nitrates ect..
