Hey all,

Just wanted to share some pics of my newt 'clan'. They are all T. granulosa. Two males three females. I also have two juveniles, which I will share some pics of too.
I will also include pictures of their tank ( adults ), as well as the adults cooling setup.

Any suggestions on their tanks? I want to make them happy and be perfectly comfortable in their tank, so all suggestions are welcome.

The first three is the adults tank, the fourth is one of my juveniles, the fifth is the adults cooling setup, and the sixth is the 'clan'.

Very nice setups! How effective is your cooling system at maintaing consistant temperatures? I may try something like this for my tiger salamanders next winter. What is that large plant that seems to be dominating your planter boxes?

The cooling setup stays pretty consistent. It is usually right around 36-40 F. However I am not sure that that is right, I swear my thermometer is broken....

What plants? Good question! I have no idea! I researched a TON but couldn't find anything. It is from a marsh ( the newts breeding habitat ), so its not like they had a label ;)

The closest I found is wild parsley, but I don't think that that is right. I am going to post and ask about it. -Seth
 
Similar to Sium latifolium, although i don't know if it even occurs in Western US.

    with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

    Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

    Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
