Paedophryne amauensis, described today from New Guinea, is now the smallest vertebrate. The paper is available here, and deals in particular with the ecology of New Guinea micro-frogs:

Found out about it...on 660 News in Calgary - they even used the species name and did a fair job of pronouncing it!
