Thyroid malformation

It's a couple of years I've been breeding t. Alpestris and I've noticed that if I keep the larvae from when they hatch indoors or in my cellar they develop a lump on their throat, the thyroid reddens and they don't metamorphose completely

.If I then transfer the larvae outside and this thyroid malformation isn't toodeveloped the lump will disappear.Animals with the lump survive for 7-9 months and then die

.I usually feed the larvae only with enchytraeus till they get to the size that allows them to eat small maggots andearthworms. They get light and temperature is about 22°-26°C when kept inside.Could the monotonous diet have something to do with this perhaps inhibiting some thyroid hormon?Or maybe indoors they lack some stimulus responsible of the proper thyroid development?

However this year I'm rearing the larvae outside to avoid the problem

.If anyone knows the reason of this or has had this problem lrt me know.
