Received a couple of Tiger sal larvae yesterday. Interesting to find they are already striped!

Those are great pictures! How did you take such a clear close-up of the babies?

Thanks Apples. My automatic camera takes clear shots up to 4cm from the subject, but it doesn't have a manual function -- so I experience blurring much of the time like in that last photo. It's also a question of depth and light, but I know nothing about photography, so for me it's all just hit-and-miss ('miss' most of the time!). If I can get 2 decent photos out of 10 taken of the same subject, I consider myself lucky!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
