Hi all!

I'm a clinical year vet student, currently. I'm at a practice in New York, and we had someone bring in a 12-14 year old tiger salamander (tigrinum) that's about twice the size she should be due to edema.

We've shot rads and there's no obvious masses or problems with the lungs, so I'm kind of leaning toward kidneys or systemic infection. As far as we know the terrarium she lives in isn't terrible, but she had a few episodes of edema earlier this year according to the owner.

I read a lot of the great posts on bloat here, but was wondering what you guys and gals would recommend? Would you recommend the salt baths or something like fridging? Should they tear down the tank entirely and start fresh? Our vets here are kind of shooting in the dark here.

Thanks for your help,

Seth
