Hey all,

How do I tell if my filter is generating to much water current?

on my filter it says:
220-240V
50Hz 15W
Hmax: 1.2m Flmax: 800L/H

in a tank 2ft x 1ft x 1ft.... i don't know if anyone can make sense on if the filter is to powerful enough or not but i thought i would try. Of course my spray bar is pointed upwards towards a wall on the tank but the ripples still cover at least three quarters of the water at the top of the tank.

My two baby axolotls, about 2 and a half inches long don't seem particularly stressed, but i have noticed that their gills seem to by getting lightly pushed from side to side a bit.

However they do get stressed when they accidentally swim up in the way of spray bar and are pushed suddenly around the tank for a second (it make ME stressed out when they make that mistake).

So what do people think, is there an issue? all posts more than welcome!

Hello moony1988,

My tank is 1 foot long and is equiped with an internal filter that pump 400 L/hr and that doesn't stress my axolot out. I'm pretty sure you axolotls will be fine. Just remember to turn the filter right down to its lowest setting.

Jay.
