I've been feeding these red worms to my axies that I obtained from my grandad's compost. I haven't noticed any ill effects so far... all the axies eat them with relish. Are they safe to eat? Just double checking lol

I've been feeding compost worms (Eisenia foetida) to my caudates for many years and I've never seen a problem. If cut, the worms exude a foul-smelling (and tasting) fluid that usually results in rejection of the worm, so I always feed whole.

However, it really depends what you feed the compost worms to, as they can cause problems in some vertebrates. Garter snakes, for example, will vomit and potentially die upon ingesting compost worms.
