Tylototriton verrucosus

I've cleaned the tank so I thought I'd take some pictures as well.
Can anyone tell me what form are these? Dark? Shanjing-like?

I would like to hear some opinions on these too. They look a lot like mine. However,the orange of these seems to be brighter.

Well first of all nice animals Francesco!

To me they seem to be a large dark variety. But it's often difficult to say because the animals vary a lot between terrestrial phase and aquatic phase.
What's interesting about these animals is that there warts are very brightly coloured for dark animals, but that's not that unusual. In the small dark variety group of verrucosus I raised this year there were also some animals with the distinctive orange warts, while most of them had very dark warts. So there is also some morphological variation within the forms of T. verrucosus...
I'll try to post a pic of the juvenile later today.

Mind you Ester, probably the brighter orange is due to the fact that they're fed on pellets.

Yeah, I feed mine on earth worms.. which they love! It's amazing what size worm fits into their stomachs! I swear they're hollow from their mouth all the way down to their tail!

What kind of pellets do you feed?

tetra chiclid but I am sure that if I fed them bright red ones like the ones you give to discus fish they'd become reddish

Ive seen this type of food in the pet stores but never thought of using it as a food source for newts. Do you feed it to all of your newt species Francesco? I might have to go out and buy a can, and mix up my newts regular diet of chopped up worms and frozen blood worm cubes

yep the terrestrial ones too...

How do you get the terrestrials to take it, Francesco? Offered by tweezers?

i guess you could glue it to a cricket...

i soak them and then give them with tweezers. For the large animals like salamandra once I've soaked them I stick 4-5 together
