- Flavobacterium columnare, a bacteria attacking gills, mouth, tail... and often confused with a fungus
- Fungi of the group Saprolegnales, usual weakness parasites thriving on wounds or stressed animals
- Anchor worm Lernaea, which is actually a crustacean, parasite also on fishes
- Argulus, a parasitic crustacean also thriving on fishes (don't give axies daphnia from a pond containing fishes !)
- Ranavirus, causing erythema and ulcerations (diagnosed in the axolotls collection of a laboratory)
