PR NEWSWIRE (USA) 23 May 00 Washington State Honored With New U-Haul SuperGraphic
Port Angeles, Washington: Which Washington resident is green, yellow, almost five feet tall, over eight feet wide and appears on 600 new U-Haul moving vans? The Olympic Torrent Salamander, of course. Don't let the salamander's measurements keep you from hiking through Olympic National Park this summer; the actual Torrent Salamander is four inches long, on average. Olympic National Park and U-Haul International wish to thank the residents of Washington for their continued support and invite them to the free unveiling of the new Washington SuperGraphic.
The ceremony will be conducted at the Olympic National Park Visitor Center, 3002 Mount Angeles Road, Port Angeles, Washington, on Saturday, May 27, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. Those attending will enjoy the park's splendor and be addressed by Port Angeles Mayor, Larry Doyle, Superintendent of Olympic National Park, David Morris and the President of U-Haul Company of Washington, Buz Olsen. Free t-shirts featuring the new state design will be given away to the first one hundred in attendance at the event.
Olsen stated, "This program is a service to all residents of the state of Washington. I can't equate a dollar amount to the advertising the state would have to buy to parallel this program, but I'm happy those dollars are donated by U-Haul rather than coming from my tax money."
A special presentation of the new SuperGraphic image will be conducted at the Hoh Rain Forest Visitor Center, on Saturday, May 27, 2000, at 2:00 pm. Donna Cuttone will greet visitors and discuss the ecosystem that makes the Hoh Rain Forest unique.
The new Washington Supergraphic highlighting the Olympic National Park will be featured on 600 new moving vans. This tribute to Washington is part of the U-Haul "Venture Across America" campaign, an extension of the highly successful "Salute to America" campaign, which began in 1988. The new "Venture Across America" generation of SuperGraphics feature vibrant, modern images designed to recognize little-known facts about each state. A Washington SuperGraphic section, featuring an interactive, in-depth write up about the park's ecosystem will also be unveiled May 27, 2000.
