Just wondering if anyone could identify these bugs? I've checked a couple different resources and im not really seeing anything that matches. They are tiny, about the size of a grain of sand and hop around kind of like fleas on the surface of the water. No matter how many water changes i do they keep coming back. They dont seem to be hurting anything they just kind of gross me out. I think they came in with my usual scoop of blackworms from the pet store.

I was leaning toward springtail, it just didnt quite match any of the pictures i was seeing. After looking up snow fleas, which turns out are a type of springtail, i learned there are hundreds of different species under the name springtail and this is likely one of them. Thanks!

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
