Question: UPDATE on axie tails

Aww thanks :D *hug*
Today I watched them closely to see if things have changed... Not much but it doesn't seem like it's getting worse.
Only my big male has some black spots on it's snout but I hope it won't be as bad as that on m albino.

His tail looks less irritated but it's still a big hole/wound and I think it needs some time to start healing. I just do water changes in their empty bare bottom temporary tanks and see what happens now.

(My big wildtype gal is begging for a worm now. She's watching me for minutes. She always does that, so that hasn't change, good thing.)

hunger is always a good sign!! :)

I think they heal well, the main concern is to get rid of the bacteria or whatever it is that it's causing the irritation...

let us know how it goes

Hmm... 5 axies... 3 didn't eat.
My albino ate a worm but I found it in it's mini tank today... My big male keeps spitting them out and my female wildtype did the same thing as my albino but I found it earlier... Hmm.... Well... I will try again later.

The wound on my albino's tail looks less red today. But still red.

maybe they don't eat because you removed them from their usual tank, keep trying

less red is better than more red!!

Yes I think being in a smaller tank with no sand and funny stuff and doing water changes and other 'strange things' makes them think something like "hell no, no worms today!"

Hi

I hope things turn out for the best for your lotls. I wanted to tell you that you are not stupid, and it is probably nothing you have done. It seems to me that not many people really know all there is to know about axies, and that in some way we're all feeling about in the dark a little.

I'm very new to this, so I am afraid I have no advice to give, just love, support and the very best of wishes for your little ones. Good luck!!!!

Kay xx

Thank you :D :D

Today I got everything out of their tanks, cleaned the whole stuff and now it's drying.

The good thing about that is that I also got rid of those nasty planaria :D

Other thing: there was a tiny fluff of fungus growing on my albino's tail and I gave him a salt bath again. (He really doesn't like it... The wound on his tail was bleeding a teenie tiny bit)

nice :)

I hope thats the solution and they come back to be nice happy axolotls!

Whoohoo they all kept their worms inside. :D

Still nothing new actually. Well, my other axies seem fine...

Here's a picture of my albino's tail with the wound.
Is it me or do such big gaps heal pretty slow?
Is there anything to do to encourage healing?

I think they heal slowly

is he eating? is the wound growing or just staying the same?

It takes a lot of energy to heal so give him time. It might help to keep your tank water nice and clean and cool as well.
good luck

I think the wound isn't getting bigger.
But I noticed my axie male also had something wrong with his tail. It has those cloudiness in/on the fin part of his tail and a red tail tip. Also his tail tip looks broken.
The same thing that I have seen on my female wildtype. (Her tail is almost back to normal somehow). Even my albino had that 'broken' looking tail tip. His tail is normal again.... but not the wound ofcourse. However... the edges of the wound look like they are healing. He has eaten pretty well the last days so that's a good thing.

Also about my leucistic male...: In my other thread called "WHAT is this "blackness" I describe the black patch/spot/something he developed on his snout. Yesterday I gave him a salt bath and today I watched and I noticed 80% of it has just gone... So I think it all has to do with this mysterious something that is annoying my poor axies.

My little wildtype (another wildtype, the one on my avatar) seems fine..... I hope.

Hi, I umderstand this is an old thread but if you are still active on here, could you tell me what happened next? This pretty much looks what my axo has got, vet thinks it is red leg and i don't know what to do with it:(
