How long does it take from the start of the reduction of gills until they are totally dependent on atmospheric oxygen?
I noticed that the gills of one of my larvae has started shrinking and I am supposed to go away over the weekend... So may the gills disappear over a weekend or is it a slow transition period?

I doubt the gills could completely be gone in one weekend. But I would suggest adding an island and a lid, just in case

Hehe, I was in a real hurry when writing that post - I wasn't worried of escape only about him(it...) drowning. I put in a little island and hoped he would crawl up if necessary.

Now that I am back I notice that his gills are almost gone, he's still aquatic though..
Will they become terrestrial when gill remnants are still present? I thought so...this guy seems to be waiting for them to fall off before he makes his move *nervous*
