Below are a tonne of links to pics of my axies.

You will see pics from my adult tank and some from my babies tank.

Also somewhere in there u will find a big blue tounge lizard which was out the backyward of my home. You will also see my undertank set up which includes, chiller, and canister filter, and u will see some containers one with earthworms another with crickets. As well as the undertank set up i put up shelving next to my tank which holds the testkits and my liquid treatments and such. This is also used as mini work bench in preparing food for the axies.

I have only just added text to some, others dont really need it.

Enjoy

Hoped you like them
Let me know what you think.

They are so cute! I love Lolly and Lotty! They look happy

Do you have the snail in there with them? Have you had any problems with it?

(Message edited by maria on March 01, 2005)

yeah i got 2 snails in there

i have had no problems as of yet and i have had them for about nearly 2 weeks now.

Cool piccys Brendan, you obviously put a lot of time and effort into your axolotls and thats great to see. Up here in Queensland it gets pretty hot and so I'm thinking about getting a chiller. How is yours working out for you and do you think it is worth all that money?

Hey jarred.

Yeah the chiller is a great investment. It has been working fine for my no problems at all. So yeah definately worth the money if you are serious about keeping axies. My temp is always stable at 20.

How big is your tank with the bigger axolotl's and how much did you pay for your chiller?

(Message edited by Ammu_188 on March 03, 2005)

Tank is

4ft x 1ft x 2ft

and the chiller cost me $1200 but it well worth it.

Brendan - how many degrees is the chiller able to bring down the temp of the tank?

I have been looking at chillers I want to either make one or buy one for my 40 gallon tank before summer gets here.

it can take it down to 15 degrees i think.

Also forgot to mention mine is a heater/chiller combo thats why the price may seem odd.

if i remember correctly the one i have can make the water as cold as 15 degrees and as hot as 40 degrees

Sounds very nice Brendan, I hope I end up with one that works that well
happy.gif
Thanks.

I don't think I would need a heater in with the chiller. When I get my big tank I'll have a look around at some.

Only reason it heater/chiller was thats all the store had available.. But meh.

Maybe somewhere down the line i might keep something that requires hot waters.

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
