Do you know how to cycle a tank? Do you already have the newt? If possible it's best to cycle the tank before you put your newt in. Otherwise you'll need to do frequent partial water changes with dechlorinated water to keep the water parameters safe for your newt. You'll also need to test the water daily - the API Master Kit is recommended as it is more accurate than test strips and will test for pH, ammonia, nitrites and nitrates.
