Water lettuce

Has anyone tried water lettuce in their aquatic tanks? I have some doing well in my little outdoor pond and I thought I'd try some with my eastern newts.
 
Yes, i use it with most of my breeding setups, it is excellent both as an egg laying medium and also cover for young newts.
 
I recall some past posts with photos of water lettuce in aquariums. Try "search".
