The ones u shud also use to test your water are ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. If you can't afford them all at once, buy the ammonia one first. Then until you can afford the other 2 you can, if need be, get your water tested at petshop for nitrite and nitrate levels. We test our tanks once a week b4 a waterchange, or if our axies seem upset or acting out of ordinary.
