What are the most interactive and entertaining newt species?

Hi folks, I am hoping to get some opinions from the community. In your experience keeping newts, what have been the most interactive and entertaining newt species you have kept? Is there a particular species that always comes out to beg for food when you are near their tank? Do you notice that a species always seems to be active and swimming around where you can enjoy seeing them often? I would love to read stories about silly things your newts do too! Thanks!

Alpine newts are definitely the most active. All newts in the water are bold. And all of them swim around to various extents but alpines swim more, explore more, and hunt more. They hang out at all levels of the water column given a chance. What they don't do is leave the water. Thats good if you want an aquarium but less good if you want a paludarium.
