Hello!

In the past few weeks I have been wondering, how old is my axolotl? Out of curiosity I looked on the internet and it said that around 15-30cm long axolotl are 5 years old..? I didn’t believe them since my axolotl is atleast 29cm long and he has been living with me for 1 year now. Do axolotls have different years than humans or am I crazy?

THIS IS NOT NEEDED FOR AN IMMEDIATELY FAST RESPOND!! IM JUST CURIOUS

just like most animals you get big medium and small axolotls, they do most of their growing in the first few years then the growing slows down, the size given for a five year old is an average size, also males tend to be longer than females although females tend to be more robust, during the first few years it isn't unusual for them to have growth spurts.
genetics and also environment also affect axolotls size.

You date the day, month, and year that your axolotl hatched, calculate to the now, and that's how old he is. You could also do it based on when the egg he hatched from was laid too, I guess.
