Question: What is this?

I really want to figure out what species this little bugger is.
I saw it in my creek. I don't have a picture... BUT I can write down what it looks like, and where I saw it.

Appearance:
*purplish grayish color with red frilly gills
*about two inches long
*had legs

Location
*River Valley Arkansas
*in a shallow creek

So I guess no one has a clue or anything... It wouldve at least been nice for someone to write that they don't know... i mean 21 people have looked at this. Isn't the motto "No Post Left Behind"?
