I have been feeding my fire bellied toads crickets, but I wanted to mix things up,

I am wondering what else these toads can eat?

thanks!

Re: What to feed fire belly's

you can feed them mull worms. frozen mull worms. Don't give them to many frozen mull worms. they are considered a treat.

Re: What to feed fire belly's

what the hell are mull worms?

Re: What to feed fire belly's

i would think its a spelling error and that they ment meal worms

Re: What to feed fire belly's

You could try feeding it Earthworms, as they are by far the best food for amphibians. They are very nutritious, and if it readily accepted, they would be a better staple diet than crickets. Don't try meal worms as they are very poor in nutrition and their hard shell can clog their digestive tract.

You could culture flesh fly maggots. It you have a area you can let some meat rot.

Re: What to feed fire belly's

Yep, earthworms are very good, but it can take some time to get the frogs used to them, at least in my experience... Also if your setup is mostly aquatic, the worms will sink to the bottom, and frogs won't notice them...

What I do is buy some fly maggots (you can find them in fishing shops, at least here in France), let them develop into houseflies and then feed them to the frogs... They love it, you can easily dust the flies with vitamin if you want to, plus it has the frogs jumping all over the place so they can have a bit of exercise

So in my experience, it's 50% earthworms, 50% houseflies...

Best,
