Hello all. I'm finishing up on my ten gallon project, my first tank build, and I'm wondering what i should silicone to the Great Stuff that will be under water? Should I use sand, fine gravel, larger gravel, or even just use the coco fiber? I'd prefer not to have too much coloration in the water, I like it pretty clear. Any help would be appreciated. Oh, I also plan to have a few aquatic plants, havent settled on any particular type but I do have some pothos and spider grass here (i know spider grass isnt aquatic, it'll be in the land portion.) Thanks for any and all input everyone

I don't have a perfect answer, but here are some thoughts.

Use black silicone, if possible. Coco fiber will turn the water slightly yellow, but this will go away in time, with partial water changes. It will never make the water cloudy, just slightly tinted. If you use largish gravel, you'll need a pretty thick layer of silicone to stick it to. The problem with fine sand is that it's hard to find it in a dark color. And if it's a sharp sand, you end up with a surface that is somewhat sandpaper-like.

Whatever you choose, take photos for us!
