Does anyone know what this plant is called? It's aquatic and looks a bit like a fern. Leaves are 3-4 inches long.

Seems like a selaginella-species.
Not an aquatic plant really. But a plant that loves moist conditions.

It was sold as a bunched aquatic plant. The stems seem to thin for it not to be fully aquatic.

It's a sellaginella. I have one just like it that I got from black jungle. Mine's planted in damp moss and pea gravel in my Dendrobates imitator tank. They can stand to be submerged but will do much better on land.

yes. many plants actually can live on land and in water. And it features change to adapt its environment.

Thanks folks! Even the vendor didn't know what it was. I don't have anywhere semi-aquatic or terrestrial that's suitable for it at the moment so it'll have to suffer an aquatic existence for the time being. Maybe I'll pot it up and see how it fairs.

O.K. I guess Alan's right.

Thanks for the ID Alan. I left it semi submerged last night and by the morning the leaves that were out of the water looked fairly ropey - it's definitely aquatic.

Ex Africa semper aliquid novi
and a lesson learned, Mark I hope your plant survives
