I regret that I was in the hospital and let the planted tank "go" in between water changes a bit longer than I should while in there and on the mend. In fact, I am a bit embarrassed to tell you that. With that said, just tonight I have noticed that a milky white fuzz has developed over my 2 year old CFBN's right eye, on her eyelid.
It makes it pucker a bit underneath it. The fuzz seems to match the fuzz that was at the bottom of the tank in some areas and on some of the plants. It occurred just a few hours after adding some fresh water to the tank (with some Top Fin Water Conditioner) to get the water level back to "normal" as it was down pretty low. We figured we would let things try to level out and normalize before stirring it up again by actually cleaning it in a little bit. How long should we wait to do that? We have a ten gallon planted aquarium in medium to large smooth gravel with the 3 CFBNs in it, and maybe 1 or 2 snails now, and a Whisper 10i filter which has a bunch of green algae in it. It still works. We also had some snail deaths in there while it was waiting to be cleaned. I think about 5 or 6 or so snails died.
What do we do??
What can I do to save her and get rid of this fuzz on her and restore the tank? I really don't want to lose her!! (I know I should have thought about that when the tank was waiting to be cleaned but I am able to do it NOW that I have recovered.) Nobody would do it for me or with me while I was in the hospital or recovering.
Thank you so much,
