does anyone keep these or know of anyone who does? i had my matriarch die recently -she was only 4 years old and i was expecting these frogs live about 9-10 , so it caught me off guard. i had 5 males and 1 unknown till yesterday -my males had been calling alot and fighting -and like what had happened a few years back -one of the combatants was drowned. now i know i have 4 males and an unknown juvenile. since they are fighting and calling alot you might think the unknown is female-but i am not sure. i got these in 2000 at IAD so i am hoping someone else knows someone who got some there-the original breeder no longer does them. arrons frog farm has hybrids for sale-but id rather not go there.

What other reeds do you keep? I've got argus, puncticulauts, and marmoratus. Also a lot of other frogs

with axolotls would I basically have to keep buying and buying new axolotls to prevent inbred breeding which costs a lot of money??

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
