Who makes their own enclosures?

I've been considering constructing some enclosures from lucite or some other acrylic and i was wondering who else had some experience in this. Given the relatively high price of acrylic sheet stock, it isn't close to being price competitive when compared to glass tanks of moderate sizes. Has anyone bothered to figure out about where the break even point is between homemade acrylic and store bought glass in terms of size?

One of the problems with acrylic enclosures is that they tend to warp over time.
