Wigglers

Has anyone ever tried to feed these to their newts? I believe that they are some form of mayfly larva. If i can, do you think i can just release them into the water, and i can expect my C.O. or N.V.V. to find them?
 
I forgot to mention that they are what you buy at the baitshop and wigglers is the given name.
