Hi I'm having a problem with my red backed salamanders, every time I catch some and keep them in the 20 gallon aquarium they die like 2 weeks after. I feed them, I keep their cage moist with spring water and a spray bottle but, I don't go over board like spray a dozen times, and I give them the proper housing, I don't understand why they keep dying/drying out, can anyone help me with this situation? :(

For any wild caught amphibian, the stress of captivity can sometimes be too much. I think P. cinereus can be pretty aggressive towards one another because of territorial disputes so if you're keeping more than one, it might be a good idea to make sure that they each have enough space to claim their own territory.

That being said, I've never kept lungless salamanders before so I don't know of the challenges of keeping them. I imagine that they can be pretty sensitive to temperatures (like most amphibians) so I would check the temperature in their enclosure, along with the humidity (as Xavier suggested). I'm sorry your salamanders keep dying on you though :( I hope that helps a bit.
