Question: Wondering if my red spotted newt is beginning to turn into adult stage

I’ve looked up and researched the different stages of our lil buddy Newton that since he shedded his skin a few days ago seems to not be as bright of colour and we’ve noticed he does not have as many spots on his back. Also he just ate which is why he’s looking like a chunky monkey, but wondering if anyone that’s had a red spotted newt go from eft stage to adult.
