Wooden vivariuim

would the wooden vivariums with the sliding glass doors on the front be suitable for fire salamanders or should i go with te standard aquarium

Can you take/post a photo of the kind of vivarium you are considering? Or you can post a link to a photo already online, if you can find a picture.

Sals need moisture, and usually wood and moisture don't mix. But it depends on how the thing is designed.
 
Hmm, I answered this one yesterday - wonder where my post went?

Any how, you'll find the moisture will eventually get to the chipboard and this sort of viv will have a relatively short life. You'd be better off with glass or plastic construction.
 
Personally I would go for a standard aquarium but there are several things you could do to waterproof the inside of the wooden viv; seal edges and corners with silicon or line with perspex.
 
sorry jennie im not good with such things technical but thanks one and all ill stick with the aquarium just a crazy idea
