I had the weirdest experience with my axolotl. He is normally rather active throughout the day and as usual came up to see me and get his noon worm.

Mabye an hour later he went and squezed himself in a really akward position behind a log and some rocks. I got worried that he might be stuck and moved the rocks for him to get out and he didn't move at all, like no gill twitching no leg movement and no normal swim towards my fingers. I freaked out after a minute of him not moving at all and waved the water around him to push him out of the corner. nothing so i gently poked him, nothing. freaking out that my previously very healthy axoltol my have died from a stroke or something i pushed him out of the corner with my finger. a second passed after I stopped moving him and he just finally looked up at my finger and instantly went for it like normal.

Could he have been sleeping? I can't think of anything else it might be but I'm a worr wart and wanted to get other optinions.

Any Ideas? Thanks!

He could have been sleeping but I think it's more likely he's just being lazy and he's super comfortable with you! My guys have gone days sitting in the exact same weird position and when they were small they would freak out if I moved them to check on them but now most of the time they either just sit there or get freaked out and act like I just cut off their leg. As they get older they do get more lazy and they are nocturnal (as far as I understand) so they'll usually be more active at night anyways
