You are absolutely right!
Was an abscess and it actually opened up today he’s feeling much better. Thanks for your insight and confirmation though because maybe I had done something I shouldn’t have. But because you had the same suspicion as I did- I I just waited a bit and monitored it didn’t get worse. Fridged him for comfort and privacy. And what do you know today it was oozing (quite a bit) is pretty infected. I going to follow up with some anabiotic’s. Thanks a bunch.

Add about 1 teaspoon of pivkling/aquarium salt per 5g bucket of water for tub changes to help clear out the infection - salt is magic for wounds - this is not a salt bath this is a small amount to aide healing

Thank you so much. I will do that.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
