Hello! I have 3x 5-6 inch axolotls living in a densely planted 40 gallon breeder tank. I was wondering if it is possible to tell their genders yet, I did my best to get clear photos! Each photo is a different axie. I am thinking the first two are female and the last is a male, but not sure if it’s just too soon. I have noticed that the axolotl in the third pic is a bit snarky with the other two, so if I have two females and a male I will rehome the male either to a new owner or a new tank!

It's still probably too early to tell (I currently have two 10-month olds that, until a couple weeks ago, I was pretty sure from appearances were girls, but now they're both looking like boys), but so far, I would agree with your assessments. Just have to wait and see!

Ok, thanks!

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
