Hi!
So I know that axolotls come up to the surface for air from time to time and it's pretty much normal. But mine did something quite concerning today.

He vomited a few days ago, I might've given him a few pellets too much. And after this I noticed that two times he was at the bottom of the tank and he was letting out air bubbles. It didn't look very nice, a little bit as if he was choking.
He looks fine, moves normally. I just wondered if it's something that happens or if it's something with his health. Never seen him do that before and it's quite worrying

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
