Thats awesome Neil! Good work! Hope I can get mine to mate this year. Can I borrow your Barry White cd?

awesome pics! What's Barry White? From the pics I'm guessing it's kinds like Viagra?

Molch, if you know Southpark, he's a bit like Chef ...so yes...kind of like Viagra :D

You really should download a couple of Barry songs Molch. Watch out who you're with at the moment you throw it on your speakers though. ;)

Jess, have your noto's also been in amplexus in autumn in the past? I've never seen this behaviour this late in the year. I thought it only occured in spring and begin summer.

@Jeroen
You can allways post the lemur. Everytime I see it I'm having troubles not to cr%p my pants.

I actually have only had them for about a month Neil, but I'm hoping for this spring.

aha. He's a singer. I see .....
I had no idea; I thought "some Barry White" was code for some kind of secret powdered food supplement...:D

..and now I'm real curious about that lemur..

@molch: you and me both! I've been reading this thinking "lemur????"

Despite the risk of sounding pedantic, that´s not a lemur xD Tarsiers are not lemurs, but they sure are amazing! I´ve always found them a perfect mix of adorability and scariness. They are huggable demons from the seventh hell.

I was about to be the killjoy and announce that it wasn't a lemur! Another geek beat me to it!

I have to still be geeky though, so here I go:

Tarsiers were placed with lemurs at first, in the 'prosimians' family, separate from the mokey and ape families, but then got put into a group all of their own. The group is predictably called 'Tarsiers'.
So now the primate families are: Tarsiers, Prosimians, Monkeys and Apes.

I need to get out more. Sorry for subjecting you all to the lemur lecture/tarsier talk.

Another noto keeper told me to check the plant from now on, because his animals layed their eggs in autumn on a regular basis. I hope I don't have to wait for next spring. Want eggies now!

Love your discussion btw. Sometimes people really get in a catfight on a forum. Glad you can make fun at eachother without hurting any feelings. Like that a lot.

Oh yeah, for me it will allways remain the "dramatic lemur". It just sounds better. Afterwards I can allways explain that it's not actually a lemur. When everybody is done laughing of course.

At least lemur is a more accurate description than Possum, which is what it's labeled on the video!

Congrats on getting the notos into amplexus! I've often found, though, that even though the male is ready and willing to amplex anything that moves, often it's the females that are holding up the show, and are unwilling to lay eggs. Maybe they just don't like Barry White. I heard sharks really dig Justin Timberlake. Best of luck!

Thanks. Hope the female's in the mood for a bit of leavefolding. Otherwise I'll just have to wait till next year.

What's wrong with wanting to amplex everything that moves btw. I've had that my whole life untill a couple of years ago....

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
