I don't understand axolotl genetics at all >.>
Can someone explain id like to understand this better. I dont know what all the long words mean ive always thought of it as "carried gene" and "visible gene" But then i realized that not all mutations follow the same rules when i was reading on snakes with co dominant, dominant and allelic traits and im so confused!

It's actually pretty simple if you think of it in terms of pairs. Each colour has a pair of genes controlling it, and you need a matching pair of recessive genes for it to show.
So the albino gene controls production of black pigment, a matching pair gives you an animal with no black i.e. albino.
The melanoid gene controls iridophores, so a pair gives you an animal without them.
Axanthic controls the yellow pigment, a pair gives you a grey-purple colour.
These are the simple ones.
Copper makes the animal produce orange-brown pigment instead of black.
Leucistic restricts any colour to the head and spine area.
GFP produces the green glow pigment.
But you can add al these colour together in any combination, so if you have a pair of albino gene and a pair of melanoid genes you get an animal that can't produce black or shiny pigment, making it pink with white.pink eyes.
