Hey guys, I know I've been posting on here a lot, but I'm a novice newt owner and I just need some help lol, so feeding my newt in his cage has become a task because he likes to hide in a castle decoration he has, it is difficult because I use tweezers to put the food in front of his face and because of the angle he is in it makes it difficult to reach him and usually leads to me taking him out of the castle causing him to stress out and not want to eat, are there any better ways to feed my newt? Please help

If you are feeding him chopped nightcrawlers, you can leave the pieces in a shallow dish. He should find them just fine on his own, even if he waits until dark to come out and prowl about.

Ok thank you!

I'm assuming by cage you mean it's a terrestrial setup, in which case Chinadog is absolutely right. However if it's an aquatic setup, I find that just always dropping their food in the same spot every feeding time and giving them an hour or so to eat and then picking out the un-eaten food with a turkey baster works just fine. Hope this helps:D

It was a terrestrial set up, and I was going to post an update but forgot, I tried Chinadog's method and he totally found the food and ate them himself! Thank you though! ??

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
