Hi all,

I’m new to axolotls, having had them for just over a week.

I have 3 of them in a 145 L tank (40 Gal).
When I got them they were in a tiny tank at the shop and one of them had a nip on his gills and one of the others had a nip out of her tail

One of the other ones has Developed a little white patch at the tip of one of his gills that looks almost like a burn. I’m concerned that it might be fungus, but it doesn’t look fluffy like most of the photos I’ve seen.

Any advice would be very much appreciated!

id say yes, i can’t really tell as the pictures aren’t great quality, but tea baths will help either way

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
