Hi, y'all! I have an old tank that was briefly used for a couple of saltwater crabs. I'm wanting to use it to house my first axolotl, and was wondering if it would be safe to turn this glass tank from saltwater to freshwater, provided that I clean it well?

Yeah, a little salt shouldn't hurt - washing it out thoroughly is best though. Make sure it has time to cycle before introducing your new little buddy :)

Thanks so much! Yeah, I'm definitely going to be cycling it before I bring them home!

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
