I purchased a fire belly just 2 days ago, and I'm now addicted. I've had a 5 gallon freshwater space themed fish tank since January,with various fish. I also have a 1 gallon little Pirate themed tank with a male betta. Oh and Startburst my pretty kitty cat =].
Lefty the newt. I bought him missing a hand
My mom got me hooked on fish when I started out with just the 1 gallon and a few guppies. I still have one of the original guppies alive today. 2 more of them I gave to the pet store because they would nip at everyone else till they had no more fins to use when I moved them to the bigger tank. So over all I feel I am doing very well so far in keeping pets smaller than a cat ^_^
considering I can't even keep house plants alive for long lol. I'm glad to actually find something I can take care of.
My best accomplishment tank wise was curing my poor betta of a nasty outbreak of ick he got the day after I got him. Within 2 days of just aquarium salt water changes, and slight ick meds at the end, He is doing just fine. I didn't think he was going to make it. yar.
I can't wait to set up a nice newt tank. And also complain to the only locally owned fish store about their lack of info and horrid ways they are telling people to take care of the newts. It was my knowledge that they just live with the fish in the tank! I am having some difficulty with my newt, only because I was told wrong info, and was not prepared to have such a pet, tank/knowledge wise.
However this forum&site is fantastic and I feel very ready to help Lefty thrive ^_^

About me, I'm a nerd pretty much. When I'm not bugging the fish I'm usually on any number of online games. I make websites for players 'corporations' for the game Eve I'm addicted to. I know lame.
I work for the US CDC, state health department ect. Basically I'm one of those people everyone hates because I call you up to 3 times a day and 35 times in 2 months to get you to do a health survey. But it is for science and tax funding placement in health care! Most the extra money I have goes to fish (and now Lefty) and soon I will be started college in the Fall. I think I'm going to major in dental hygiene.
