Yesterday I was testing if my small (4-6 inch) Siren intermedia juveniles would eat some fingerling trout pellets, and was surprised to find that they did! So, today I put a few of the floating 1/4" pellets in my tank with the 9-12 inch S.intermedia, and they ate them too! The brand is Aquamax.

Has anyone else tried dry food for this species?

That brand is the same as what I use to raise all of my axolotls from 2" to adulthood as well, but I never thought the sirens would be interested in them.

Wow cool. I have to get some of these becuse if your sirens will eat them Im sure my hungry (and vicious when it comes to food) will eat them.:D

Some of the S. intermedia and S. lacertina I worked with would take the pellets others would not. There was also a season variation in the foods they would accept.

What season did most take pellets?
