Can you guys and girls take a look at my Bella and tell me if you think shes holding eggs or not? I'm really worried that if she isn't there might be something wrong with her. She seems to be getting bigger and bigger. Heres some pics of my girl.

Thanks :)

Yep, she looks like she's filling with eggs. They can even get more plump than that.

She's a big girl, all right! I would guess that she's gravid.

Well, there isn't really an exact answer to that question. It really depends on if you have a pair together in the tank. If so, they'll just mate whenever they're ready, and she'll lay the eggs anywhere from a few hours to two days afterwards. Have you read up on raising them on: http://www.axolotl.org/rearing.htm yet? That site has extremely useful information in it.

Not necessarily but if you’re wanting to continue to grow your breeding capacity then yes. Breeding axolotls isn’t a cheap hobby nor is it a get rich quick scheme. It costs a lot of money and time and deditcation

Would Chinese fire belly newts be more or less inclined towards an aquatic eft set up versus Japanese . I'm raising them and have abandoned the terrarium at about 5 months old and switched to the aquatic setups you describe. I'm wondering if I could do this as soon as they morph?
