i was wondering why there isn't a american newt group? i mean lots of people have them, so why isn't there a group for them?

Can you give an example of a "group" for some other animal hobby? I'm not sure what you mean. There was talk on this forum at one time about launching some kind of society, but it never got off the ground. While it's possible that "lots of people have them", very few take them seriously enough to care about joining a group. This is not to say I don't like the idea (I'd be happy to join), but I'm not sure are enough people, and they are all spread out across the country.

Perhaps the user is referring to the user groups on the forum?

I have always thought that it would be great to have some sort of "American Caudate Society" in which members would get a nice little journal in the mail (call me old fashioned) once every month or two. Then I quickly realize that would be a lot of work for little to no pay for whoever was producing it. Maybe one day.

The topic of such a society has been discussed on the forum before. I don't feel like talking about it again.

i was referring to groups on the forum and for the "lot of work for no pay" isn't that true for the other groups?

That's what I thought too. As for the lot of work no pay thing, they are talking about a society, not the user groups. I'll have a look at adding an American newt group but honestly the groups are nothing more right now than a personal title.
