Why did you give your axie that name?

Discovered today that two of my little ones I raised and gave to a friend have been given the names Salamander Holden and Pixie Lotl! :lol:
 
Omigod, these are so creative and so funny. :D We took a couple of days and tried a few very different options before settling on Boris for our six- or seven-month-old albino axie. And yes, he is definitely a he, which is a bonus name-wise, because when we got him home a couple of weeks ago, we had no idea how to tell the gender of an axie.
Boris Badenov from the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons was one reason for the inspiration (so if we ever get him a girlfriend, she'll have to be a Natasha, obviously), but essentially, it just seemed to suit him.

Upon purchase I called mine "Xochimilco" after the lake, obviously. It isn't AS unoriginal as it sounds, because I actually did stay in Xochimilco city for two weeks on a mission trip. Although, I spent almost the entire time laying on a mat with uncontrollable diarrhea. (Their tap water needs a lot more than a declorinator.)

However, that name lasted for all of two days before my friends started calling it "your green dragon".

"Ohmigosh, your green dragon is so creepy/cool/cute!" Everyone was calling it that, and it didn't bother me because of The Green Dragon pub from Bree in Lord of the Rings. Although, I don't think any of my friends who we're calling it my green dragon made the connection, or even read the books.

So, since I like LOTR more than Montezuma's Revenge, I officially changed his name. I don't think he noticed.
 
My little ones are called Kaino and Touho. Those are old finnish names. Kaino means "bashful" and Touho means "busy one". And they got those names because of the way they acted when I first got them. :D
 
Sorry, I was corrected, The Green Dragon is in The Shire; and The Prancing Pony is in Bree. I guess if I get a second Axolotl it's name will have to be "The Prancing Pony."

Not sure which one is represented by your avatar but whichever one is it, it is the cutest axie ever. Absolutely adorable. Presume its friend is just as gorgeous. Loving your lotl... ;)

That's Kaino and she's pretty awesome. But then again most axies are. :p
 
My new leucistic male is called Monty - his freckles look like an M across his nose.
 
Well I have Pascal, who is a leucistic with freckles. I named her that because of the freckled triangle shapes on her face, they reminded me of Pascal's Triangle
I have Io, my white albino, who named after the Jupiter's moon.
Then there is Eos, named after goddess of dawn in mythology, he is my GFP albino who seems to have a yellow color that is reminiscent of the rising sun.
 
My first salamander i named speckles hence the username but he was a tiger. I named my first axolotl stevie. He/she is a wildtype but my in laws daughter named her axie spike
 
I had every intention of naming my axie Squirtle.

When I got him home my husband suggested we call him Axl. Axl the axolotl sounded good and he suits it so... Axl it is.
 
Mine is called Helo after the character from Battlestar Galactica because axolotls are so sci-fi!
 
We have two leucastic boys Axl Rose and Morgan Freeman, Axl Rose because I was trying to think of famous red heads and it was a good fit, Morgan Freeman becase he has lots of freckles. We also have a Golden Albino girl named Simba, named before we knew she was a girl but we think it still fits as her fluffy gills make her look like a Lion.
 
I named my axolotl after the dragons from game of thrones. :D because they are known as water dragons, iv got Drogon my wild type, Ragal my golden, Meraxis my gfp wildtype, and Viserion my white albino.
 
mine are called Lionel and Pork Pie. Lionel after Lionel Richie, Pork Pie because he is a greedy little monster :D
 
I had 58 babies from my lastest batch - obviously I can't name them all, but 4 have names:

The first one hatched is called Snow White - albino who was pure white when first hatched, but is now more 'Yellow Snow'...!
I have 2 that haven't grown much, they are 2" where their sibling are al 4"+ I call them Mike (microlotl) and Stumpy (he only had one front leg stump when I separated him)
And I have one who seems to be a floater - I call him Bob.
 
Axl Rose (yep, another one) - golden albino - and - Mex Gonzales - wild type
if they're girls - Axl will probably be Asia:)))) and Mex is a good girl's name anyway:)
 
I have a leucistic called Maurice (More-rees). He got his name before we even bought him, I just thought it would suit him
and a wild type called Gregor (Grey-gore). Like Gregor Mendel because his face reminded me of a pea. No idea why.
Not sure what gender they are yet but if they both end up female it'll be rather awkward...
 
Axolotl number 2 is called Starbuck (to go with Axolotl number 1 who is Helo), however I usually just call them Big Dude and Little Dude.
