Hey everyone,

This is my tank setup and the cabinet my dad and boyfirend built on the weekend for it.

My tank is still not 100% clear but i think its getting better.

I want to add in some real plant this week before I start cycling.

Hiya
Congrats on getting everything set up.
Your dad and boyfriend have done a really good job with the cabinet it looks well sturdy.
The only thing I will say is your sand is way too deep, Air pockets will build up and cause water quality problems and turn your sand black.
You need to remove some. I think an inch deep should be enough.

thank you.

I'm hoping so =)

Do you think it will be okay if i slop the sand more, so that waste will build up in one section?

I want to add some real plants to make thank look more fill and not so bright for my babies to be.

Is there anything else people would suggest i add to my tank?

also my tank has to lights attached to the hood. i think having both on would be way to bright. i will check the wattage of them tonight. But does anyone use a light on their tank?

i saw in a shop they have 10 and 20 watt ones.

Hi kaylalouise!

The tank looks great (is that you in the back of the one pic, holding the dog?).

If you want to have that little slope in the back, you can just drag something like a chopstick through it when you clean the tank to release any air bubbles trapped inside.

The lid is going to be a torture to you in the hot Australian summer months. I strongly suggest removing it. You could attach a little shelf above the tank and hang the lid from that so that there is at least 10 cm space between the lid and the tank; that way you can use what you have without actually putting the lid on the tank.
