Are slugs a good food source for salamanders like spotted / fire? Are they calcium rich?
Thanks.

I believe that slugs are great nutrition and newts & sals love 'em. However, people do have concerns that they may have parasites if you catch them from the wild. Others gather eggs and raise them up, so there are few parasites. I myself use ones that I catch in my yard (it's pesticide free in my yard). The newts that I have that eat them are healthy and reproduce.

slugs are brilliant for caudates, as they have all the necessary nutrients, but WC have parasites.

Slugs are not particularly rich in calcium since they either have a very reduced internal shell, or no shell at all.
They are a good food item, but they are not totally complete, they must be a part of a varied diet. As mentioned, beware of wild slugs. Cultivating them yourself would be best.
