Ps: sorry about my bad English , I'm Portuguese

Welcome Vasco,
congratulations on your Shanjings, remind me of mine!
lol
It would be a good idea to have earthworms available, and Grindal worms.

Bem vindo Vasco,
parabéns pelos teus Shanjings, fazem-me lembrar os meus! lol
Seria uma boa ideia ter juvenis de minhoca da terra à disposição, assim como vermes de grindal.

Boa sorte!
Cheers

Welcome to the forum.

Very nice Tylototritons, they seem to enjoy the mossy area of your tank. This is definitely one of my "planning-to-keep" species.

Good luck with your new family members! :D

Thank's guys.

Luís , I've been told of earthworms , and Grindals , but i can´t find them
(if you know where to find them talk with me:wacko:)

Luís , também já me falaram das minhocas da terra cortadas aos bocados e dos vermes , mas não os consigo encontrar ( se souberes onde dê apita:wacko:)

Certo Luís? Muahahah:D

Nice shanjings... They remind me something...

Hi Vasco,

I've raised a couple of generations of these guys and found they do well on small earthworms, small slugs, frozen bloodworm and live whiteworm.

The whiteworm are very easy to culture and once you have a few going, are an excellent backup supply of food if you have trouble getting hold of the others. These can be bought online through specialist websites or through classified adverts on aquarists/fish breeder websites.

As for earthworms, the easiest to obtain are small Dendrobaena spp. - these can often be bought online from specialist retailers or from some fishing bait shops. Some Dendrobaena species taste unpleasant, exuding a foul yellow liquid - most sellers don't specify exactly which species they sell, so it may take some trial and error.

Small worms and slugs can be harvested from pesticide free areas and are very popular with young shanjing, though it is worth mentioning there is an increased risk of parasites/disease. How relevant this is depends on your location and your views on the subject!

Frozen bloodworm are trickier to get young newts to take as they do not move - if they were not used to these as larvae then patience and hand feeding will be required.

Finally, i would strongly recommend supplementing with a small amount of a good quality calcium and D3 powder every few feeds (eg. Nutrobal made by Vet Ark).

Hello,

Thank you for the advices , and of the diferent types of food , with will be very useful.
I am using a calcium with d3, 2 / 3 times a week, but I will start to give them calcium every day

Eljorgo , não faço a mínima ideia do que estejas a falar :D

It is better to do as you originally planned - supplement some feedings, not all. There is a risk of over-supplementing. Mark Naguib recommended "every few feeds" (meaning once in several feedings), and I agree.

I thought that what you said of shanjing's was for me, but ok
Yes and I know you were talking about, I was just kidding

Cheers

By Gods Vasco, do not call me Luis! The name is Lusitanian Warrior, but as the first word is too big had to abbreviate, ok!
As for the white worms you can find at any aquarium site. Already on the earth worm at any store for fishing bait can you buy Dendrobaena ssp. You make a culture and after 6 months you already have juvenile ideal for the food Shanjings!
I hope I helped!

Cá para mim são irmãos dos meus, ou não Sr. Eljorgo? Lol
cumps

Ora, ora... Quem mais senão eu para governar a situação caudatica cá em Pt...:D

Like Lusi (not Luís) told you dendrobaena as well as Lumbricum terrestris that i feed mine can be good additive to boost their growth rate. Enchytraeus. will be a nice supplement as well.
Cheers,
