Marmorkrebs as Axolotl snacks

A Cray fish guy on Aquabid said that they are peace fund that you could keep the adults in with the Axolotls and "self feed". Sounds a little Dangerous.

I would not keep them together. While Marmorkrebs are peaceful for a crayfish, they are still a crayfish. Their bite marks in plants and on squash and cucumber slices I put in the tank and their snail crunching pinchers are enough to make me "just say no".

I'll try and video them eating the crayfish. My tank is dark with only a night light over it, but I will see what I can do. Right now they are still catching them live as the cray babies are still fairly small.

Well I have a so so video up at youtube. I'm sorry its so dark but my tank is dark and so is Doodad. It took her 3 tries to catch it. It kept swimming up then falling back down on her... sort of a suicide pattern if you are in an axolotl tank.

About 60 baby crays were consumed by 6 adult axolotls over the course of about 6 weeks. I haven't noticed any problems. There is a new batch of babies out and growing that will be ready to start feeding in about a month. I plan on feeding them a few at a time like I did the last batch. Not a full feeding for the axolotls just a few crays to find and snack on through the week.
